FOOD LAW ACADEMY LAUNCHES IN 2023

New online course in European food law & Labelling

For over 20 years the founder and managing partner of the Legal Products Group, Dr Mark Tallon has been advising businesses on issues of European and UK food law compliance.

In March this year Dr Tallon will launch his first online training course accessible to both business and individuals with one key aim; ‘offering accessible and effective food law training online 24/7’.

Despite training and offering his courses to clients over many years since the pandemic it has become clear that most companies have adapted in house team to being at least partially remote. The take home is a better work life balance.

To meet these changes this new course is aimed at developing an understanding of EU law from a functional / health foods perspective and is offered online in a series of 8 unique modules that are broken down into bite lessons of 60-75minutes. The videos include MCQs and practical training to reinforce the courses content and for those that want it, to achieve a Certificate in Food Law from Legal Foods®.

Those taking the course will have the option to have a certificate of completion with externally certified CPD hours or take the open book exam at the end of the course. But either option should result in well trained regulatory affairs professionals. Dr Tallon says when he started you had two options take a law degree, which did nothing to train you for food law or shadow colleagues in a food business. Even the latter was potluck in relation to the quality of training or the area of expertise you could end up in.

By creating this course Dr Tallon say he hopes to give those both new or even experienced students access to a well-balanced course, covering legal principles and fundamentals of EU law but also the practical application of such knowledge via a “continue to earn as you learn” online course structure. Because functional foods offer unique challenges then it needs a different content of training to meet its demands.

8 KEY MODULES

The course has been built around 8 key modules to take the student from relative beginner to being able to navigate EU legislation, review ingredients for compliance and assess a food label for mandatory and voluntary information. The course contains key training with a focus on practical application throughout. Dr Tallon say, “Food companies don’t want to hear about food law or regulations they simply want to be able to sell product and at minimal risk. The course is designed to deliver just that need”.
